The Best Skincare Routine for Normal Skin

The Best Skincare Routine for Normal Skin

If your skin feels balanced, comfortable, and rarely reacts to products, you likely have normal skin. Not sure? Start with our guide to the 5 skin types or ask our AI skin coach Lumi. Normal skin is the easiest to care for — the aim is simply to keep it balanced and protected. Here is a clear, effective routine.

What normal skin needs

Normal skin produces a balanced amount of oil and holds moisture well. Your goal is maintenance: gentle cleansing, steady hydration, antioxidant support, and daily sun protection. You have the freedom to enjoy K-beauty textures without much fuss.

The morning routine

  1. Gentle cleanser — a mild, low-pH cleanser to start fresh. Look for: a gentle gel or cream cleanser (e.g. Beauty of Joseon / COSRX low-pH cleanser).
  2. Hydrating toner — a light layer of hydration to prep the skin. Look for: a hydrating toner (e.g. Anua Heartleaf toner).
  3. Antioxidant serum — vitamin C-type serums help support a bright, even look. Look for: a vitamin C serum.
  4. Moisturiser — a lightweight lotion or gel-cream.
  5. Sunscreen (SPF) — the most important daytime step, every day.

The evening routine

  1. Oil cleanser — the first step of the K-beauty double cleanse, to remove sunscreen and makeup.
  2. Water-based cleanser — the same gentle cleanser as the morning.
  3. Toner — rehydrate after cleansing.
  4. Treatment serum — a few evenings a week you can introduce an active such as niacinamide or a gentle exfoliant, depending on your goals.
  5. Moisturiser — seal in hydration overnight.

Adjusting through the seasons

  • Winter: switch to a slightly richer moisturiser if your skin feels tighter in dry, cold air.
  • Summer: a lighter gel-cream and diligent reapplication of sunscreen.
